Does anyone know if there is any tax software like Quicken or TurboTax for Linux?

I'm not too sure what features you need, but you could always try GnuCash, or the Linux Tax Homepage for a start.

P.s. I did mine the old-fashioned way, by hand, because
mine was easy. And used the pdf forms provided by
irs and CA Franschise Board.

TaxAct Online is compatible with FireFox in Linux. That's what I used for my taxes. There are currently no complete tax programs for Linux,... native that is...

I've used Turbotax for Windows for years, and found that the on-line version of Turbotax is great, and cheaper too!

I used Turbotax online several year back...it has a lot of advantages over the installed product.

However, I do not like the fact that to use Turbotax online you are basically having them "Host" your financial information forever.

Think about it.

If you submit data to a server outside of your sphere of control then that data could come back to haunt you; if they ever what to run an audit.

Auditing the data is as easy as running a XML query on the target document(s).

With the new laws they have now the old 7 year rule no longer applies.

This is especially important for incorporated businesses. It is now possible to store data long term that can technically live longer then you can.

It is just something to think about when making financial decisions in the United States.
