I am trying to install lamp(linux, apache ,mysql, php) server in ubuntu 9.04 , when I try the command
"sudo tasksel install lamp-server" , I always get the error
tasksel: aptitude failed (100)

Even when I try sudo tasksel , and then install lamp-server , an error is generated .
Please help.

Well actually I figured out that while I am installing LAMP,I am successfully able to install apache2 and PHP , but the error always occurs with mysql-server.When I try installing mysql( sudo apt-get install mysql-server) I always get this message , that a crash has occured and mysql-server is reported as a broken package. I need to figure a way to install mysql correctly , but presently I am unable to do so.
Please Help.

Well I figured out what the problem was, it was not about configuring any packages in dpkg, rather /var/lib/mysql existed , even while mysql was not installed , so I just removed the file and then was able to install mysql.
