tar.gz to rpm


i've had a few problems installing tar.gz files so i was wondering if there was any x11 programs out there to make this cushy and also if there is any tar to rpm progs?

If these tar.gz contains the source code then there's is no point converting them to RPM format, what you need is package the compiled binaries into a RPM file.

As a side note, when you d/l a tar.gz, check it to see if it has a <filename>.spec file in it. That's the rpm spec file (few tarballs have them). You can then build an rpm from the tarball using that spec file. If there is no .spec file, see the post from Demonbane.
