Tab autocomplete like windows shell?

Hi all,

I've been googling for this answer on and off for a few days.

Bash and perhaps all the other shells, autocomplete by listing all possibilities if there are any ambiguities.

But I want something like this :

say a directory has "a","abc","abcd","abcde".

1 user@somewhere:/ a <tab>

2 user@somewhere:/ ab <tab>

3 user@somewhere:/ abc <tab>

4 user@somewhere:/ abcd <tab>

5 user@somewhere:/ abcde <tab>

6 user@somewhere:/ a <tab>

i'm wondering there's any patch to bash or alternative shell that does what window shell autocomplete does ? That is, for each tab, show the next match. (cycling thru all the possibilities)
Thanks.

Just hit tab twice and it will show a list of possibilities.

Hi,
thanks for the reply. but i know about that behaviour but would like to let the computer go thru each match instead of completing until where ambiguity strikes. and i have to fill in the rest (which might be several characters long).
