"system restore point"

is there a way (namely in CentOS 4) to create a system restore point like windows has? im about to install some software on my linux server which adds new modules to my webserver. before i do this i want to create a system restore or something similar because i recently just got my apache to install to work with php and mysql on the versions i want how i like it, and if i mess up installing the next set of modules i need id shoot myself if i had to do the whole apache/php/mysql thing all over.

You can make an image of the drive using Norton Ghost or similar. There's a linux equivalent, but I can't recall what its called... http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/...ndows_software

Why not try xen or user-mode-linux? You can do whatever experimenting you want in a virtual box. There is no need to risk a working system. :)
