System restore
 

Windows contains a system restore program that stores all of your important system files in case u make a do do. I had no luck in getting it to work but thats not important. I was wondering if linux has a simliar feature that backs up system files.

I, like many Linux users, created my own backup system using the tar utility. See:
man tar

There are several backup systems for Linux. One that comes to mind is Mondo:
