system help!

My PC support none XP Pro, only XP Home. So I installed Ubuntu, until now was working fine.
So I went online and find a awesome site that will convert my Ubuntu to Mac. In the end I nearly finishing my job of converting Ubuntu into Mac. Avn, Fonts, Icons was done, then my screen just stays and not moving (in another word, freeze). I have to reboot by holding that power button. I managed to loging, but my task bar moves around, like up down.

I tried re-installing Ubuntu and comes up as buffer 0/0 error or something like that, dsl won't load unless you use the xsetup.sh, Dream Linux only worked once..., XP Pro missing something dot dll. But I managed to bootup that SLAX. My school IT, won't let me use Win7, XP3...

So I want SLAX to be default, boot up just like other os/ linux without having to use the disc anymore. Thanks...

I assume this means you have been running SLAX from the livecd. In order for it to boot up without the disc, you'll have to install the OS onto the harddrive, as described on this page. If you want to dual-boot, you'll have to create a new partition to extract SLAX onto. If you want it to be the only OS installed, you'll have to reformat the drive. Both can be done with a tool like the gparted livecd.

Be careful while installing software.
In ubuntu there are official repositories maintained which guarantee stability & compatibility.
See basic requirement of software lest you regret later.
You will be better served if you heed to advice.
Experimenting is fine , but know what you are doing.
Thank you.

My advice to you is if you want to get something to work. Use an experimental computer even if it is an old one. This way all of your information is safe on your one machine and once you figure out how to do it safely on your experimental machine you can put it on your regular one. I have had to do this many times. Good luck with the situation.
