Did the update include a new version Kernel? IIRC, when you upgrade the Kernel with drivers installed for ATI or nVidia systems, you need to reinstall the drivers. Try that and let us know if it works.

Hi,thank you for replying.One last question.Yes the update included new version of kernel.
Do I have to uninstall the driver that I had installed previously,something like in windows where if you are going to install or reinstall the driver you have to uninstall the driver that you have installed previously.Hoping to hear from you soon.Thank you once again for replying
UPDATE:
I took the risk of installing the ati drivers without uninstalling the previously installed one.The result,well now everything is A-OK.All the desktop effects are back.Thank you for your help and time dragonslayer48dx.Hope this thread helps someone.
