Unhappy System halts on bootup - F5D7000

HELP I need a guru or someone with a modicom of knowledge, ( which would still be more than mine ). I have tried several versions of knoppix including the latest ( 4.0.2 ), but every version I have halts when it detects my network card (Belkin F5D700 ver 1 ). I have tried everything I know ( which is little ) but cannot find the answer. I even tried installing a driver without the card in and saving the configuration. Not a sausage. This is a good oppotunity for someone to become my god..... HELP

Sounds odd a network card can hang a Linux.

How about trying Kanotix. It is a clone of Knoppix and see if it does it better. I would try a few distros like Slax and Ubuntu before forming an opinion of the netwrok card.

Thanks, I'll try getting hold of them. I found I could boot up with 'nodhcp'. Then I did 'modprobe rt2500' which did something cos I could see the card with the network tools. However whenever I tried to do something the system hung. Under windows it says its a rt2560 card so Im trying to find a mod for that. Thanks for your input anyway, much appreciated.
