system goes off after idle for few minutes

HI guys,
i am currently running rhel on vmware.
The system goes black screen(like the screen saver, prompt login to me when i wake it up) after few minutes of idle.
i have seen the solution like xset off
how can i actually configure the amount of idle time before it goes off?
thanks!
