Syslot after Reboot
I turned on my monitor this morning and found the login screen... looks like my box rebooted it self. This is what I found in the system log:
Code:
Jan 5 07:49:05 www kernel: DROPPED IN=eth0 OUT= MAC=ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:00:30:84:29:6d:ff:08:00 SRC=10.0.0.7 DST=10.0.0.255 LEN=78 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=128 ID=1447 PROTO=UDP SPT=137 DPT=137 LEN=58 Also, I get a TON of those DROPPED IN messages... Thanks. |
Those dropped packets is caused by netbios from a windows machine, so you dont need them anyway.
I dont think that your machine has booted from what i can see in the log. With the command 'uptime' or 'last reboot' you can see when it is the last time the machine booted. |
Hm, so maybe it just logged out that user? Weird, I wonder what caused that?

what did 'last reboot' say???
It is probably just a process that hangs and kills itself. |
Okay, it happened again. :) I looked at the boot log and it appears the computer did not reboot. I just logged that user out. It's the generic user I have logged in when I'm not doing anything and don't want to have root logged in.
I don't understand why my user would be logged out. It worries me. After running a W2K server and getting a ton of Stop errors, waking up to my box having rebooted, I'm wary and nervous about it. That box did end up having a broken fan, and overheated so the CPU and motherboard were damaged. I don't know why it didn't have an auto shut off. Regardless, is there anything else I can look at that will give me more info as to why my user is getting logged out, and how I could correct this? If it's a process that hangs, how do I find out which? I am nervous that it could be MySQL... for some reason, the MySQL logs are not working... I have to see why. The log files are there, just empty. Thanks. |
