syslog and firestarter - log messages to another file than messages

i installed a rh 9.0 box and putted firestarter on it. firestarter logs a lot of activities, quite interesting but: the messages log with other kernel-messages gets absolutely inreadable. so, as a newbie i tried hard to change the syslog-facility (which wasn't that easy...), and it seems to work.

here is mit syslog.conf, PLEASE CAN ANYONE CHECK, THAT I STILL GET LOGGED EVERYTHING IN MY MESSAGES-FILE EXCEPT FIREWALL-LOG-ENTRIES??

Thanks a lot. BTW. if it really helps, i think, this change can help a lot of others too....
