Sys/Net Admin Stuff
 

Hi, I am not newbiw to Linux but close enough(when admin stuff is concerned), I have been installing few things here there and basically been using my red hat for developing stuff, which really didnt require much to be done to the system, and if something was needed I could goto my companies net admin, since he left and no one is really that proficient, I will be taking over his responsibility for now, its a small place and we dont want to hire more than required people. We are about 20 odd people now, so its not much that I need to do.

I want to learn a little about user management, along with setting up networks. Currently everyone has their stand alone system and we dont use central logging, central source code repository etc

We would be installing Red hat along with windows on most of the machines and would want Red hat to be able to access windows FS and also a central login enviornment.

I know its a big task, or atleast seems to be like its huge since I have never done this.

Along with doing these things, I would want to setup a firewall, proxy, mail server(I did install postfix on my laptop, just to see if I encounter any issues, thankfully none so far), webserver(not a problem), but I dont know if that changes when I install firewall and proxy.

These are some bare necessaties that i would require. Can someone help me out here a little or point me in the right direction, that would be great.

Any small concise books or links would really be nice.

Also some experience on what software to use would also be appreciated.
