Unhappy Synaptic Package Manager Problem

Hello, I'm a newbie, and I'm using ubuntu 6.06. I don't know what happened, but after adding the repositories for acquiring WINE the problem started. Also, I saw in my sources.list file a tagline which I think is the source of the problem. Since I cannot post URL's yet, i'll just describe it:

It's a wget APT. It is for acquiring the WINDOWS version of Firefox (it is run via WINE)

The error that appears in the Synaptic Package Manager is this:

E: Type 'wget' is not known on line 33 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list
E: The list of sources could not be read.
Go to the repository dialog to correct the problem.

I tried the "fix broken packages" tool but it didn't work. Please help me out. Thanks!

Remove or comment out the offending line (line 33 in /etc/apt/sources.list as it says), or fix it. The syntax or something is wrong, apt can't read the line and so it refuses to read the list of sources, thus giving up the whole thing.

Another thing: why would you like to run Firefox's Windows version through Wine? Why not use the Linux version?

How do you fix it? I tried openning it and erasing the line (I opened the source.list file), but then I couldn't save it.

I just wanted to try if Wine works.

Well, you should be able to use a Kynaptic / Adept option which says "Manage Repositories" or so, which opens you a simulated editor of the lines within your sources.list file.

If you are not able, you should "become" root and then edit the file directly.
