synaptic configuring in fedora 5

i installed fedora 5 on my laptop, but sound card was not detected, and when booting , the synaptic pad gets locked and i don't know how to configure, can anybody help me out. thank you

Hi and welcome to LQ.

Fedora Core 5 is now unsupported, so I suggest you try the latest release which is currently Fedora 8.

is it possible to get fc 8 in a dvd format

i do have net connection but it is very slow downloading rate

40 kbs/sec.

so if i can get in dvd format it would be of great help, is it avaible .

Its available as a dvd. You can buy it from osdic or other companies that sell Linux discs.
