symbolic links


Hi all

How can I check to which file a given symbolic link points???

Type in "ls -l". Look at the results.

A general procedure for answering these types of questions is to use the apropos command in a terminal: apropos link.

This will list commands in the Unix manual apropos to the term link. In this case, on my system, it turns up the readlink command:
readlink (1) - display value of a symbolic link

Then typing man readlink will tell you everything there is to know about the readlink command.
