Switching Bootloader

I'm planning on duping Fedora Core 2 on my PC for Mepis and I want to know if any damage will be done to the Master Boot Record. You see I'm using GRUB for FD2 but from what I've read Mepis uses LiLo. Also are there any other forseeable problems with damage to the MBR. I have to be extremely careful because this is going on my Linux partition on the Family computer and if I screw up I probably won't be using Linux on a decent machine for the next couple of years.

I will be taking the normal precautions like backing up the important files and such. I just want to be able to forcast any problems and decide if the risk is worth taking. It's almost time to re-format the hard drive anyway (proper maintanance) and I'll lose my linux partition when I do (dumb Norton Ghost restore disks).

I read a review on Mepis and it sounds like a good desktop distro. Easy to use and install new software with apt-get or synopises.

Im using Mepis its the easiest distro just follow usual procidures like un instal your old boot loader mepis will find windows and use your old linix pariitions or you can use Qparted during install
mepis 2004 uses grub
rember it is live distro as well so is easy to re configure if needed
