Switched to KVm Switch, and now I can't Display
 

Hi,

I'm kind of new to Linux and these forums. I was moving some of our servers to a Rack Mounted Console with a KVM Switch. I moved 3 servers to the KVM, and 2 of the 3 are working ok. The third one I'm not sure what's up. It basically sits there blank but not off, and the monitor power light blinks at me when I get to that console. I am on the right session for the KVM switch I checked that

I've tried Ctrl+Alt+Backspace a few times and nothing happens. This did however work for one of the other two servers. So my question is basically does anyone have any suggestions as how I might get this to work without having to reboot the actual server? I'm thinking it's X11 related but not sure, and I'm kind of clueless when it comes to X11 anyway. This is a production environment so I can't just reboot at will, and would appreciate a workaround if anyone can think of one.

Oh forgot one thing I'm running Red Hat Linux release 7.2 (Enigma), I know it's old but this server is being retired this year so no one wants to bother with an upgrade at this point.

Your running X on "production environment" servers? You might want to think about that. One other thing you could try to get your display back would be to press ctrl + alt + f2-6. This should bring you to the console. If this works press ctrl + alt + f7 to get back to X (assuming is running).

In the mean time it shouldn't be that big of a deal that you can't get a picture to display on the monitor. You do have ssh or some other form of remote administration enabled right?
