Switch user makes screen go black
I am using ubuntu edgy. Gnome.
User 'A' logged in and started a music player. User 'B' clicked on "switch user" instead of log out and screen went black, however the mouse pointer remained active. (Black screen with a movable arrow) The music from user 'A' continued to play. I couldn't do anything other than move the pointer around a black screen. It appeared that the screen was active as the pointer arrow would change to a hand over certain areas of the screen. 2 questions : 1) When I press ctrl-alt f2 I was able to login. From there how would i stop the music playing in user 'A's login? 2) What's going on with the black screen? is that the black screen bug I've heard of (Nvidia)? 3) I know I said 2, but how would i restart the screwed up x-session? |
It seems to be a graphic driver bug. When you log in, check if the processes from the 'blank' session are running. If so, the session is up, but not shown. Switching back (ctrl+alt+f7 etc) may help. I have not looked into the nvidia problems, so I'm not sure it works in that case.
