Swap partition...primary or extended|logical?

I'm planning on installing linux and have my first primary partition going to be an ext3 filesystem. However, I was wondering if the swap partition can be on a second primary partition on the hard-drive or do I need to create an extended partition with the remaining space and then fill it with a logical drive in order for the linux primary partition to read it?

Linux doesn't care about swap or even root partition being on a primary or a logical partition. (Except in the case of cylinder 1024 problem which, would be a limitaion by BIOS, not linux).

You can put the swap partition on a primary partition or on a logical partition, whichever way you like.
