SuSE works differently from Mandrake?
I have just installed SuSE 9.1 where I had previously a Mandrake 10 distro installed. Everything looks just fine (both distros are stupidly easy to install, a LOT easier than Windows, by the way).
However, on Mandrake, I used to set environment variables, such as PATH, JAVA_HOME, and some others on the /etc/profile file. There is a comment on this file on SuSE saying that I should use /etc/profile.local, but adding variables to that file won't work.
I have also tried ignoring that comment and adding the variables to the /etc/profile file anyways, but I had no success...does SuSE use another file for user-configurable environment variables? Where may I set those?
