SUSE won't go into stand-by/suspend mode

Does anyone know how to get a linux desktop to go into stand-by/suspend mode? My settings (YAST2) are correct in SUSE 9, but computer fails to activate it. I've enabled the BIOS settings in addition. Any help would be great.
Thanks
