SUSE Network Install Problems. Please Help :(

Hi. I am totally new to Linux. Hope you can help me.
I am trying Install SUSE. I dont have A DVD burner so I tried the network install. I saw a tutorial about installing SUSE using "Network" feature. I Network card is in the "Kernel Module" list. I installed it.

here is the problem:

I found a mirror's IP address and typed it in. I think in this forum the same mirror worked for someone.

when I enter the IP, i look at my modem the "activity" light dont flash.
can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong

Im sure there are also normal CD-ROM images available. Since opensuse.org seems to be down atm I cant check tho.

Network installs are always a tad risky, there are so many things that can go wrong its hard to tell what your problem is without more info.

I just checked the site of opensuse.org and it's up and running

just give it an other try.

I would like to give you the address from where to download it, but I'm still not over my 5 posts limit

it is possible your network install failed due to the site being down, so just making another go might be worth a try. What was the address you tried in the last attempt?

I tried some other address. its was from Colorado Mirror. can someone help me by finding out the IP adress of some reliable mirror.

like:mirrors.kernel.org

I am unable to find out the IP of that site...is there a program that can do that for me.
Thanks For your help everyone,.

mate,

I suggest you download the ISO files from the opensuse.org site
burn them to cd (it's only 5 cd's) and use that to install your Linux machine.

You can always use Yast2 to upgrade all the packages installed.

This would be the easiest and fastest way.
