SuSE Modem troubles
I am so confused. I just got my new creative external modem. SuSE recognizes it just fine (unlike my winmodem), and lets me configure my ISP, but when I try to connect via KInternet, the log tells me this:
SuSE Meta pppd (smpppd-ifcfg) Version 1.00 on linux We are disconnected trying to connect to smpppd connect to smpppd We are disconnected. We are lurking pppd: Plugin passwordfd.so loaded. pppd: Local IP address (IP address here) pppd: remote IP address (IP address here) pppd: Terminating on signal 15 We are disconnected pppd died: pppd received a signal (exit code 5) I am guessing maybe a config problem? Problem is, I know diddly about Linux... this is my first real time playing with it. Can anyone tell me, in approximate layman's terms, what I can do to get this sucker up and running? shoe |
First:
Make the timeout on the connection to "0". If nothing: Signal 15 is: "The link was terminated because the peer is not responding to echo requests." Have you tried "wvdial"? |
enable "stupid mode" in the yast2 modem setup. pap only, not pap/chap, check dip switch settings on the modem.

Actually, I just figured it out... I had it set to dial on demand, and I have a dial up modem, which I guess is a no no... Cause I'm writing to you from Linux now. Wooo hooo! Thanks, though... I was getting a little worried.
