Suse Linux 7.0 for AlphaServer Installation

Hi
We have a Digital AlphaServer 4100. I want to put Suse Linux 7.0 for Alpha on it. I put in the cd and it autoloads to the YaST setup screens. When I get to the partition screen, I get a message that says "No harddisk found." To set up my harddisk, I loaded NT4 through a built-in alphabios setup program. The book said to set up a fat32 partition. I know I can setup a fat16 partition but NT won't setup fat32 for me. The built-in program might do fat32 but I can't tell. I can't load a Win98 boot disk due to the built-in bios program and I can't get to a DOS screen outside of NT. Can PartitionMagic work on Alpha?

Please help.
Thanks
Dave

Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 for AlphaServer can create FAT16 or NTFS only. The FAT16 partition can be converted to NTFS but not the reverse, as in NTFS to FAT16.

Some AlphaServer's require firmware and BIOS updates to install certain versions of Linux.

This is the site to check out info about AlphaServer's on Linux > http://www.alphalinux.org/

As for PartitionMagic.... this is the homepage > http://www.powerquest.com/partitionmagic/

... and the requirements to run the latest PartitionMagic, version 8 is here > http://www.powerquest.com/partitionmagic/sys_req.html ... which states only x86 and not Alpha processors.

So the answer to your question "Can PartitionMagic work on Alpha?" is still "no".
