Smile suse linux 11.1


hi there here is mine question
i just installed suselinux 11.1 text only after a couple crashes its on
only the problem is i can't login as user it there the user name but it won't accept the password as root it won't even accept root as user ;
but know on the rescue mode i'm able to login as root that is after entering the rescue mode from booting up the dvd and pick the rescue mode to start: any sugestions to thanks

I don't understand ... did you use your user password and username? I'm not exactly sure about SUSE, but I know Ubuntu is like that ... it won't even allow you to login as root to the desktop, and it's not safe anyways.
Otherwise, maybe a password problem? Why not log in as root, and change the password using passwd?
I take it you can't login using your username and user password?

Also, when you're using the installation program, it will, by default, check the "use this as administrator password" when you enter you user password, then you don't enter your root password, so the password is the same for both.

hi there

both if i used the user name (wich i filled in the yast screen and the password) with the box ticked use this for Administrator ) it wudn't acept it.
i think someting went wrong with installing suse i had to restart several times.
so i fixed it by starting all over again for several try's its now on as text now i try to upgrade it to kde
