SUSE Linux 10.1: Partitioning Disks Simple Query
 

I am very new to Linux and no doubt will be posting a lot of daft questions on here.

Can anyone advise me is SuSE Linux 10.1 only uses YaST during setup for partitioning disks or is Disk Druid available?

I'm pretty sure that suse just uses yast. You could always use fedora to set everything up the way you want, partitions wise, then install suse to those partitions, over fedora. I'm sure yast will work fine though, I haven't used it myself in years, but everyone raves about it.

Relief that I wasn't going mad!! Have checked out the SuSE Documentation end to end and there is no mention at all of Disk Druid.

All the major distro's disk partitioning tools work pretty much the same, and they all work well. The gui's even look very similar. I don't even notice the difference. Unless you are doing some really complex tricky stuff you need the command line for, any of the big distro's tools should be fine... but go ahead and use fedora's disk druid if you feel more comfortable with that. Won't hurt anything. Fedora has always been good, and the latest releases have been great. I'm not really a SUSE fan, because of the M$ deal with the devil. I won't give them my money anymore, and I've paid for SUSE twice in the past. Think about trying fedora or ubuntu, they both fight the good fight, and that's important. My favorite is kubuntu. Anyway....best of luck...

Sounds good on the Ubuntu/Kubuntu side of things....I have friends who say the same.

I agree, the MS/SUSE relationship seems to defy the community agreement that greed is not good!

Unfortuntaley I have been tasked to help some guys out at work and they will only answer to SUSE.
