SuSE install via FTP w/ ADSL pppoe

I've read and re-read the instructions on how to install SuSE Linux 8.2 over the internet via FTP. However, one thing that is never mentioned is, how would this work with ADSL using pppoe.

Everything that I've read seems to assume a LAN connection that is always on. ppoe ADSL, if I'm not mistaken, must be "dialed into" by the ADSL modem. I can't find any information as to how one would go about getting a dsl modem to connect during the SuSE install.

Is it possible to install SuSE 8.2 via ftp with a ADSL connection of the pppoe variety??? (I don't own a router)

Also, if this isn't possible. How does one go about downloading the entire directory tree and installing from a hard drive? I would be downloading SuSE 8.2 using win XP. Using windows there doesn't seem to be a way to download the whole tree recursively, without selecting each file in each sub-directory. How could this be accomplished under the dreaded winbloze XP?
