LinuxQuestions.org - Suse install problems with user.sel

I have never before installed linux, but have used it extensively at school.
I decided to start on suse 9.1, as it looked good, but after all the installation pain, perhaps that was the wrong idea... regardless after all I have done, I would like to finish installing it to give it a fair test before I decide for sure to try a new flavor.

I downloaded ALL 8 gigs of install files, twice now, in an attempt to get it to install over my network from my Windows 2000 box. The SMB doesn't seem to work at all, so I had to set up an ftp. Okay finally it recognizes, and when I boot from my cd, it goes through, I load the driver for my ethernet card, etc. I then can get all the way into yast, where my problem will not go away.

user.sel which I have learned to be a config file for chosing what to install, cannot be found. I have redownloaded the entire directory from a different ftp, made a boot disk from 3 of them, but nothing seems to get this user.sel file either on my 2000 box, or in the boot disk. I have no idea what to do at this point, as the only other people I have found with this problem were here, and making a new boot disk worked for them. It hasn't for me.

I would be happy with any fix, including someone shooting me an email with their user.sel as an attachment or finding a way to get the install to recognize what I need it to.

I wanted to update some info just so people knew more what was going on:
I am installing suse on a desktop(P4 1.5 with 256Mb rambus memory)
I am currently using an old 20Gig HD, using the whole drive, not just a partition.

I don't know if any of that is important, but eh, thought I would add.
