suse boot problem - black screen

I just got done installing the personal edition of Suse 9.2 - all went well until I was asked to adjust my monitor. I puzzed around and the image went blurry for a while than froze. Now when I try booting all I get is a black screen. I can boot into failsafe, unfortunately don't know how to fix it from there.

Any thoughts?
Thanks

Nope - it never asked me to create a boot disk. I can boot to failsafe, but then I don't really know where to go.
Thanks tons

I'm not quite understanding what is happening here. Does it boot into SuSE and when it tries to start your X-Windows desktop it comes up as a black screen? Or does it immediately take you into a black screen as soon as you try to boot into SuSE normally?

How did you get it to work - I'm having similar issues with older dell laptop and Suse 9.1 . I can successfully test monitor configuration in yast, and I can boot in failsafe then successfully start xdm using startx, but when I do a normal boot I get the black screen too. Anybody have any ideas?
