SUSE 9.3 display problem

I just installed a SUSE linux 9.3 in my computer, and I try to telnet from SUSE to AIX 4.3.

xhost +
telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.10

After that, I try to open another terminal at AIX server via "xterm" but display at local DISPLAY

setenv DISPLAY = xxx.xxx.xxx.104:0.0
xterm&

But I got trouble to display it at local LINUX monitor.

I need your help

Does it give you any sort of error message, or just open on the remote system (or not run at all)?

I'm not sure that simply `xhost +` is all you need. That's supposed to tell the system that someone else is going to be allowed access to your local X server, so try doing `xhost +xxx.xxx.xxx.10` (i.e. the remote IP) so that the system knows to whom to grant access to X, then start your telnet session, exporting DISPLAY, all the rest of it.

On the remote system, you can't export DISPLAY? I thought from your original post that you had successfully done that step before.

If you don't have the permissions, err ....hmmm...I'm not quite sure why you wouldn't have export permissions, actually. That's sort of odd. With any luck someone else will jump on this thread and will be enlightening, or you could start a separate one, I guess... :-[

Thanks a lot for your help!

Is this problem come from the server (IBM AIX 4.3)? probablely the version is too old.
