Suse 9.2 automounting USB mp3 player
I have a creative muvo mp3 player I can't seem to access with Suse. I understood that Suse has an automount function, that would mount the player automatically when I plug it in. However, it does not seem to work. I plug the device in, and go to drives, but there is no usb drive there. I tried to search both this forum and google, but couldn't find what I was looking for. I imagine there is a simple solution to this problem?

After you plug it in check under /media. I have a MuVo and SuSe 9.1, this is where it always mounts for me.

Nope, it isn't there. I'm guessing Suse doesn't mount it.
EDIT: stranger still, lsusb doesn't list the muvo, only my usb mouse. The usb-ports work just fine under windows, so I know that they are correctly plugged to the motherboard.

Hmm, after a reboot the lsusb shows the player. Still doesn't automount. Anyone?

Don't use SUSE but seems like a hotplug issue... check here:
cat /etc/sysconfig/hotplug
for:
HOTPLUG_USE_SUBFS=yes
Hope it helps...

Nope, didn't help. I added that to the hotplug file, rebooted, and it still doesn't work. I'm a little surprised by this, because Suse is supposed to handle this just fine by default and I haven't done anything that could have messed it up.
Thanks for the effort, though.

did you reboot Linux or just the WM... either way you should only have to restart hotplug:
/etc/init.d/hotplug restart
You say it did before.. you mean it mounted this particular drive or just usb in general.
not a hotplug expert but maybe here can give you a direction to go in:
/etc/init.d/hotplug status

This player has never been mounted under suse. From a quick google search it looks like it is common to have problems with this particular player. It seems strange, since it is just a USB flash drive, from the system's viewpoint.
I'll try another player and see if I have more luck with that.
Thank you.
