Suse 9.1

Is SUSE 9.1 available to download? When I went through the ftp site, there's the src folder and the i586 folder. Will the i586 work on an AMD 950mhz cpu? And what is a rpm file? Is it a compressed file that I need to open with some sort of program? If so, what program do I need to use? Sorry if I sound dumb.

dunno if it's available for download yet. http://www.suse.com will tell you that. it should run fine on your 950mhz...
rpm stands for Redhat Package Manager, a type of file system that suse uses now too for installing and upgrading and stuff...i find it really easy to use.

If you FTP your way to ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/9.1/README.txt you will see this...

Wed May 5 12:50:00 MEST 2004 - draht@
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This tree contains the source RPM packages for the SUSE LINUX 9.1
distribution. The SUSE LINUX 9.1 ftp version will be published on June 4th
in this directory.

Thanks,

So as you can see it's not really out yet until June 4th.
