Suse 9.1 32 bit, But Have a 64 Bit Machine

I decided to go with the advice about using Suse 9.1 Personal over Mandrake 10.0.

I decided to boot from the Suse disc just to see what it was like. It said, "Nice computer but you're installing 32 bit software on a 64 bit machine."

That got me thinking, perhaps I should find a 64 bit distro of Linux?

Are there any good 64 bit Linux distros for noobies? Or should I just install the Suse 9.1 personal?

SUSE professional supports 64bit.

For now I would just install and test SUSE personal. No doubt you will try a few distros anyway

I'm sure I remember reading that 64 bit OS support 32 bit programs similar to the 16 bit to 32 bit conversion. I have a friend who uses a Mac with a 64 bit OS and most of the programs are still 32 bit.
