Suse 9.0 internet problems. (x post)

Hi. Please bear with me...I'm completely new to the whole Linux thing.

I installed Suse 9.0 on a second hard drive a couple days ago, and cannot, for the life of me, figure out why I cant get an internet connection going with it. The ethernet port appears to be configured properly, but I'm getting nothing.

Also, I'm finding that a lot of my other hardware is failing to cooperate. On board sound, floppy, my DVD-RW (one of two disk drives), 3D graphics...

I'm hoping that if I at least get an internet connection, I can try to troubleshoot everything else on my own, possibly with updates/patches/online support/whatever. First things first, though.

I'm using an Asus P4SDX motherboard, with on board 10/100 ethernet. Cable internet connection (Comcast). Also, I'm also using a D-LINK (not wireless) router, if that happens to make any difference.

I've searched every resource I can think of. The Asus website, Suse.com, google, this site... If anyone could offer up some advice to get me going on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Do I get it right that you have a DSL-internet access at eth0?
You should be able to do the basic settings with YaST2
(Hardware->Network devices)

Did you try that?

What happens when you try "ifconfig" and do you get any error in messages when you start or stop the network? e.g. `/etc/init.d.network start`
