Suse 8.2 Pro: Install Issues

hi Everyone,

I am not sure if any of yo guys ran into this problem but last night i brought myself a copy of Suse 8.2 pro to give it a try now this is the strange thing when i booted from the cd i was able to get the boot screen to pick a install option but when i tried the INSTALLATION or INSTALLATION -with safe settings it froze when it did a hardware check or hardware detection.

Is it possible to get this distro installed or is my system to old for this distro? I am running a Pentium II 350Mhz 512MB of ram 20GB Hard drive.

I removed all partitions so i can dedicate my hard drive to Suse but i never got the chance. Any suggestions guys?

The install might be hanging when trying to detect a piece of hardware.

You might try removing one piece of hardware and trying to install. Keep doing this until you isolate what hardware it is hanging on. For hardware essential to the install like cd-rom and hard disk you could try swapping with another computer if you have one handy.

i think it is time to get a laptop or a build a new pc because i get a strong feeling it is my on board video that is doing it

I do not know if Suse 8.2 still has it, but try the expert install, and or check the mb bios to make sure the vga irq is set to " enable "
