Hello everyone,

I am trying to install Suse Linux 8.2 Pro on the second hard drive (80GB). On the first I have Microsoft Win2k (40GB formatted as NTFS). I have tried installing Linux 3 times and each time I get the GRUB Hard Drive Error when the machine reboots (can't get into Linux or Windows).

I am putting the GRUB on /hda and I can fix the MBR and get back to Windows after each install.

I have been reading some other posts and FAQ and I was wondering if I should change the first HD to FAT32 and try to reinstall? If so, is there any easy way to do this besides reformatting the entire drive?

You shouldn't have to reformat to FAT32.... my windoze install is NTFS and I can access both from LILO with no problems. GRUB is certainly the better of the 2, but have you tried doing the install with LILO to see if that works?
