suse 8.2 install problem

hi everybody

first, I want to excuse my poor english, I am swiss and still learning it at school (class best )

I bought today suse 8.2 prof.
i started from the DVD, selected install and waited ... nothing happened. it seems linux does not support my gfx-card (radeon 9700 pro)
is there any possibility to avoid my screen from turning black?
i aleready checked the ati website, but the driver seems not to work for 'powered by ATI' cards ... (damn, cannot post url .. )

hope you can help me

so long

ok, I am not experianced in suse, but I think when it sais "boot:" when booting from cd you can type "text" then enter for a text based install.

Look at this site. I just put a search in for Radeon 9700 on SuSE's maintenance database. You should be able to find an answer there.
