SUSE 8.2 FTP-installation ?

Iam trying the ftp installation of SUSE 8.2. Which Ip-Adress needs to be entered when it asks me for the ftp-server-adress?

you should go online and find the downloading ftp sites...but why do you want to do that? can't you just download cd-images (*.iso) and burn the distro install cds?!? you can get those on thousands of sites, like www.linuxiso.org

ftp://[IP-ADDRESS]/pub/suse/i386/8.2

for [IP-ADRESS] go to the http://www.suse.com/us/private/downl...t_mirrors.html
and find the nearest mirror
or you can tell me your location, i'll write you the nearest mirror ip adress...

I succesfully installed SuSE 8.2 over the web yesterday. I got the IP address as follows: went to the list of mirrors at www.linuxiso.org, chose

ftp://ftp.mirror.ac.uk/sites/ftp.sus.../boot/boot.iso

Next I did

ping ftp.mirror.ac.uk

This delivered an IP address, namely 212.219.56.146

After the IP address, one is asked for the directory at the ftp site,
and this is

sites/ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/8.2

Four hours later SuSE is up and running, cool, no hassle burning iso's and checking md5 checksums.... It's the first linux distro I tried which saw that I have a usb scanner, offered to find a driver for me, and got the good one, all automatically.
