Unhappy SUSE 7.3 Install LILO re-boot error

Hi,

I've got SUSE 7.3.

My system is all SCSI based. 64MB Pentium 333

I formatted the HD got rid of windows so the YaST2 install detected a previous operating system and I installed the LILO boot from a floppy disk option. I the followed the rest of the install procedure.

Everthing went OK until booting for the first time.

Set up SDC5 15.7 /Boot
SDC7 2.4GB for /
196.0 for SWAp

LILO boot from floppy.

On booting up all I get is screen after screen of scrolling 010101010101010101010101010101010101 on and on.

Two things

1. Can I do something with the hard disk to boot from it
2. If not how do I solve this main problem?

Help - I'm a total novice to Linux.

Thanks in advance

Same Problem

I've essentially had the same problem here- the only difference being that I'm dual booting XP/Linux and Im using RAID instead of SCSI (but Linux and Windows see SCSI and RAID as *somewhat* the same thing).
I believe what it means (or so I've been told) is that LILO can't correctly identify the hard disk that Linux is supposed to boot from. I've been able to still get into Linux (SuSE 9) by using the "Boot Installed OS" option from the SuSE install disk. If you have this same option, I'd advise doing that and double checking your lilo.conf setup and running lilo again to make sure the correct setting are written.
