Unhappy Suse 7.1 PPPD daemon died unexpectedly error status 19

Hi guys
I am a new bee using Suse Linux 7.1.
I have an internal modem Netcomm 56. Linux didnot recognise this modem, probably as it may be a winmodem.
So I connected an external modem to port COM2 and configured KPPP with ttys2 (COM2). Now when I try to connect, the modem connects but ends up with error
'PPPD daemon died unexpectedly error status 19'.
How can I fix this problem. I want to use internet with Linux. Can gurus please help!!
thanks
