few things can have happened.

1) Your download is not right
2) The CD or DVD is not good
3) The burning tool you used
4) The ISO is for a different Architecture from that in your computer

Maybe tried to download it again, maybe use the torrent download instead of direct download. What are the specs on the computer you are installing it?

Do you see welcome screen? Do you see anything on screen? How do you know it fails to load kernel?

without knowing any needed information ....
we can only make random guesses
WHAT did you download ?
and HOW ?
or the install iso using firefox ( direct link)?

what iso ?
there are many
the 32 bit ?
the 64 bit ?
the default ?
the KDE spin?

as in the
"live KDE"?
or one of the "studio" images ?

then there is the hardware

is this a desktop?
a handheld "tablet"

and what is the hardware specs ?
the CPU is it a p4,i3,i5, ARM or a old ppc

and the ram ?
512 meg 1 gig ,4 + gig ? what

then HOW did you burn the iso to the dvd ?
