Suse 11.4 install,no internet or knowledge of repositories on a disc? Please advise!

Hi, i have just installed suse from live cd. I need to know how to load software as if from a repository onto a disc at another location with internet, then return home, make my computor recognise-mount my drive then load software via the new disc- i became aware by trying to watch a dvd with no joy, is there a whole software package with many of the common software bits n bobs on? How do i mount the cd? Please help!

Please forgive my short and to the point question but i am using my prehistoric mobiles browser with pathetic character count restrictions. If i could make a dvd full of likely to be needed software, that would be even better. I really enjoyed using suse before, but i had internet at that location and this wasnt a problem! Thanks again!

On the OpenSuSE site there is a DVD iso file loaded with software for OpenSuSE. I guess you just need to download it, burn it to a blanck DVD and load it in your computer and tell YaST to get and install software from there.

Being honest I have never done that way but the Packages Manager in OpenSuSE is called YaST, and it really is your friend.

Good luck to you.

Add-on products are system extensions. You can install a third party add-on product or a special system extension of openSUSEŽ (for example, a CD with support for additional languages or a CD with binary drivers). To install a new add-on, start YaST and select Software+Add-On Products . You can select various types of product media, like CD, FTP, USB mass storage devices (such as USB flash drives or disks) or a local directory. You can work also directly with ISO files. To add an add-on as ISO file media, select Local ISO Image then enter the Path to ISO Image. The Repository Name is arbitrary.
