SUSE 11.1x64 reorders eth ports on xIBM3650M2

I installed SUSE 11.1x64 through PXE on a IBM x3650M2. I specify eth0 as the route to connect to PXE and it is able to get the bits. The issue is after the reboot, the physically connect eth port is switched from eth0 to eth1 and configuration in unable to continue because it can't get to my NFS mount. You can skip this step and manually configure the NIC's after the fact, however I configure hundreds of these and need this step automated.

Any help is appreciated.

Does it do this on every reboot? You might look at udev to see if there is something that is making it reorder your ethX devices.

a question ?
" SUSE 11.1 "
??????????

is that Suse Enterprise Linux Server 11 Service pack 1 ( SELS 11 sp1 )
-- still supported and NOT free

or
the very UNSUPPORTED OpenSUSE 11.1
if opensuse 11.1 then it has been unsupported for a VERY long time
Please stay current and install Opensuse 12.2 ( opensuse11.4 has 8 DAYS of life in it )
so in one week none of the opensuse 11 versions will be still be supported

No this only happens when installing the OS for the first time, during the post install configuration. I am thinking that it maybe solved in udev, but don't really know how to go about doing that. The closest I have read that may help is NIC bonding.

Yes this is SELS 11 sp1 not OpenSUSE 11.1 sorry about the confusion.

NIC bonding will likely not help. What you will need to do is find the rules that are associated with your ethernet devices and set them accordingly. On the systems that I have the udev information is in /etc/udev and there is a file specifically for network devices.
