Suse 10.? LiveDVD & Acer LCD monitor

I've got two questions about the Suse LiveDVD -

1) When booting, if I use any of the graphics modes besides "VESA", my ACER AL1912 LCD monitor says "Invalid Input" and just bounces around an error box. Besides using VESA, is there a way to be able to boot into 1280x1024 mode directly?

2) How can I save my settings to a USB key so that I don't have to reset things every time I reboot?

Thanks,
Bruce.
