Suse 10.3 and Radeon Graphics card issue

Hi all, Im new to Linux and i need ur help. I installed suse 10.3 and went smooth with no errors, but installation did not recognize the ATI Radeon X700 graphics card. So it brought me to the Commandline veiw. I donwloaded the needed driver and have it on USB. I need to plug it in and browse to it and run it.

I know that i need to mount the USB device first then run the install command as root user. But i cant seem to type the correct commands for it to work! I see many variations online but non of them work so far. Can somebody please help ! I need a GUI interface so at least i can start learing my way around linux

Thanks guys

(don't type $ or #, those are prompts)
Quote:
$ su - root
# vi /etc/X11/xorg.conf
with the arrows, go to the 'device' section.
Change the driver to 'vesa' (put the cursor on the first letter of the word that is to be changed and type 'cw' (without the quote), then type 'vesa' and hit the esc key
type ':wq' (without the quotes) to save the file and quit
run the startx command.

This will give you the GUI.

For the USB, insert the USB and type dmesg to find which device it uses.
Then mount with the mount command.
