SuSe 10.2: problems with CD and no sound

Hello,

I wonder if anyone can suggest how to go about fixing the following problems with openSuSe 10.2.

The system is an off-the-shelf 3.2 GHz P4 1Gig pc with dual boot WinXp/SuSe-10.2. Note that none of these particular problems occured with earlier dual boot installations WinXP/Ubuntu, /Kubuntu, /Mandriva Free (there were other problems with them tho).

1) No Sound while the streaming bbc radio with real player. Checked the obvious connections and volume controls

2) CD reading problem: On inserting a data CD containing .mp3 or .wav files, the window system:/media/hda - Konqueror comes up with an error sub-window saying error and

"The file folder /media/??????????????? -2 does not exist"

The ? characters are in fact complete gibberish which I could not cut/paste.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
j

Help us, no sound at all or just with real player? As with the cd problem try this solution by reddazz - laying encrypted DVD discs

Xine cannot play encrypted dvd discs without some help. If you want to do this, then go to videolan and download the libdvdcss rpm. Install the rpm by doing

Code:
#rpm -Uvh libdvdcss2-1.2.9-1.i386.rpm

NOTE: Using libdvdcss maybe illegal in your country, so please check with the authorities before downloading and using it. We will not be held responsible or accountable if you use this software where you are not supposed to.
