Question surround sound + microsoft wireless mouse problems

Hello,

I actually have 2 issues that keep me from enjoying Slackware 10.2 further:

1)

I have a Microsoft Standard Wireless Optical Mouse, using "IMPS/2" and "usb" protocols the mouse behaves strangely, it only moves on the vertical, clicking any button will cause it to move a few pixels to the right it also clicks by itself whenever it feels like it, my configuration is the following:

Code:
    Identifier "Mouse1"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "Protocol" "ImPS/2"
    Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
using any other protocol except IMPS/2 or usb will cause X to be unable to start, i find this to be very strange given the fact that a n older usb mouse (wired) works with no problem with these settings. I searched around on different forums but people didn't seem to have these problems, the majority complains about scroll not working...

2)

My VIA on-board soundcard is detected and works great.. in stereo mode, i windows i'm able to use my 4 speaker system in surround 4.0, playing an mp3 file in Xine even if i choose 4.0 speaker setup will still result in just the frot speakers playing. I am using alsa sound system, witch detected the following:
Code:
Card: VIA 8237
Chip: C-Media Electronics CMI9761
I have Surround and 4ch options enabled in alsamixer but it seems to have no effect.

I would really apreciate if anyone could help me solve at least one of these issues.
Thank you.

solved mouse problem

After searching these forums for a non-related problem i stumbled across exactly what i was looking for
i added:
/sbin/rmmod usbmouse
at the end of /etc/rc.d/rc.local and it works fine now.
Just 4ch sound left to figure out
