supramax modem with mandrake
Hi folks!
I just recently installed Mandrake Linux 8.2 as a dual boot with Windows 98SE. The computer has a Celeron CPU and a SupraMax 56i Voice PCI V.92 modem. Here are some of the windows settings: The modem is on COM3 flow control setting is RTS/CTS Databits 8 Parity none stopbits 1 Max speed 11520 In the KDE gui I found KPPP to set up the modem, the help facility was good and I set everything up but still get no responce from the modem. What must I do to get on line with this modem? Thanks |
Have you got support for your modem in your kernel or as a loadable module? - did you manage to dial in and then encounter probs?

Not sure what you mean by support.
In KPPP setup, I have tried /dev/modem, /dev/ttyS0, /dev/ttyS1 wit XON/XOFF and KPPP sayes modem ready then initializes it. There is no OK response from the modem and when I query the modem in KPPP the ATIs all come up blank. If I try /dev/ttyS2 or anything else or CRTSCTS I get a modem does not respond message. Thanks for your help. |
