Support for SCSI scanner...

I am trying to get my scanner (UMAX S-6E) to install under Redhat 7.1. I have downloaded the front-end and back-end packages supplied by SANE (XSANE) but whether I'm the root user or other user the following two messages appear...1) Scanning for devices...2) No devices found. I have issued the command "insmod sg" which returns a list of scanner files loaded in the /modules dir. What am I missing here? How do I check if I have the proper packages/files installed for SCSI support? Please advise and thanks in advance.

Does linux even find your SCSI card? I have a Umax, and the first thing that the SANE folks suggested was that I dump that card and get a SCSI adapter that was supported.

So the first thing for you to do would be to look to see if linux actually sees your SCSI card.
